Company history

Goat farming is managed on a semi-intensive basis, taking into account the needs of the animals and the profitability of the farm. Birth and insemination management uses the traditional method, and the entire herd is divided into two groups, thus avoiding seasonal fluctuations. The animals are fed using local feeds, which are considered the best in the Italian market. This allows us to achieve the best results in milk production and quality indicators of dairy products every year.

In a long strip of foothills among the hills typical of Emilia-Romagna, there is a small farm, the managers of which made, to put it mildly, a risky choice. Here, on the descent to the foothills, in the South of the two Emilian provinces of Parma and Reggio nel Emilia, there are mainly cow farms, so local farmers reacted with great skepticism to the new idea. In order to overcome this skepticism, it was decided to have several cows of a valuable breed, in particular, Norman.

Thus, in 1960, it was decided to implement a new project, adding a small herd of 150 goats to the cows. Selected the breed that are well suited for the production of milk: Malaguena originating from Syria. Since then, the number of goats that give milk has increased to about three hundred, which is very satisfying for breeders. The milk produced is sold and used for the production of excellent quality cheeses.

The farm is spread over ten acres of hills. The farm does not grow anything special to feed the goats, they nibble on bushes growing on the hills and along the river Enza, which separates Parma from Reggio nel Emilia. From this point of view, we live almost on self-sufficiency, we do not buy anything except a certain amount of food
